Exposition - introduces characters, setting, and sets up a conflict Rising action - events that move the story forward; build suspense; conflicts form Climax - most exciting part of a story; where the conflicts are resolved (turning point) Falling action - ties up loose ends and answers unanswered questions Resolution - how the story ends; the conflict is resolved
